I am trying to download iOS 7 and my itunes wont update to version 11.1, it still thinks 11.0.5 is the newest version and won't let me download the new OS. Anyone else having this problem? I'm on a relatively new iMac. EDIT: Updating via WiFi

I don't know for sure, as I haven't tried updating anything yet, but I imagine that Apple's servers are being hammered. I've seen a few things on Gizmodo saying that people are having issues because of that.

Download 11.1 directly from apple website instead of trying to update through itunes itself.

Wait... Are you trying to get iOS 7 for your iMac? If so, iOS is for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. It is not for iMacs. You are wasting your time.

As for iTunes... 11.1 might not be compatible with your iMac's OS... Double check it's system requirements to make sure that your iMac is compatible.

You're going to have to do the update over wifi apparently. I had to do mine through my phone

Download it in settings—>general—>software update

Mine was doing that. I updated to 11.0.5, then restarted and updated to 11.1. Once it did that and there were no more available software updates (you may have to update other things), the phone update was good to go.

I tried updating my iPhone via wifi and was told the update wasn't available but tried again after a few minutes and it worked. I'm sure Apple is under a lot of demand right now to download the update.

No, for my iPod. Apple said I needed to updat iTunes to version 11.1 so I could install iOS 7. I forgot I could update over wifi. Problem solved.

OTA (over the air)

Settings > General > Software Update

It took me a few times to get it, too. Probably a busy day for connections.
